Joining the Saturday Club: information for young people
Would you like to join a Saturday group?
It’s a group doing activities like games, drama, baking; swimming, go-karting, rock climbing. Actually what the groups do will depend a lot on what you decide, along with the others and the group leaders. The idea is to do a variety of things, exploring old and new interests.
There are three regular group workers, Lynn, Christopher and Sharisse, and other adults will join to lead some of the activities. You can be in a group for 7–11 year olds or one for 12–16 year olds, There’s about eighteen in each group. Some of them will share some of the same kind of experience as you — like living in a lone parent family — or someone in their family might be disabled — or they might be disabled themselves.
As well as the activities, you’ll have a chance to be creative, writing about your views and experiences in the firsthand newsletter, and maybe producing a leaflet for other children and families about the kind of issues you face every day.
If this sounds good to you, please ask your parent to read the information for parents and get in touch with firsthand and see if there are places available.
