Saturday Club
Children: find out more about Saturday Club.
Information for parents:
firsthand leads two Saturday groups for young people aged 7–11 years and 12–16 years, with each group running on alternate weekends during school terms. To be eligible a young person will be living in a family with a lone parent and/or a family where someone — the child, or a parent or a sibling — is disabled. Priority is usually given to families who are already registered to use one of firsthand’s services.
The Saturday groups have been set up to help the young people develop relationships and friendships, to encourage them to learn new social skills and to build their confidence and self esteem. The groups will provide support and a period of respite and give the young people the opportunity to explore, in a safe structured environment, any concerns and issues related to their experience of living in a lone parent family or in a family where someone has a disability.
Each group offers up to 18 places and will be led by Lynn, Christopher and Sharisse. They will plan activities in consultation with the young people, creating a varied programme to meet their different needs and interests.
If your child is interested, email firsthand or phone on 0131 557 3121.
